Mathilde Burkard

Bachelor of Fine Arts, Parsons school of Design (Paris & New York), illustration and fashion. French literature degree (Sorbonne, Paris)

Born in Paris, Mathilde grew up in many different countries, including Mauritius, Austria, France and Haïti. Her studies began in France, but also took her to New York. It is through these stays and their strong cultural experience that she has developped her eye and her hand.
In New York City, she worked with the reknown designer Stephanie Odegard. With a desire to start as a freelance, she returned to Paris in the Fall of 2009, where she currently works and resides.
In addition to art and design, Mathilde posses a passion for piano, which she has studied for many years, as well as costume design. Both play an intricate roll in her philosophy of art and design. This philosophy, which she built Sentinelle around, believes the universal concepts of balance, contrast, and emotion, are the cornerstones to any successful creation.
